Austrian Parent–Child Pass consultation
As part of the Austrian Parent–Child Pass, you can have a midwife consultation that is fully covered by health insurance and therefore free of charge. The consultation takes place between the 18th and 22nd weeks of pregnancy and lasts 50 minutes. Alongside comprehensive information, there is plenty of space for your questions.
- What health-promoting measures are useful during pregnancy?
- What midwife care is available?
- Where and how can I give birth?
- How can I prepare for the time after birth?
- What support is available after birth?
Pregnancy check-ups
Midwife check-ups are a valuable addition to the examinations required under the Austrian Parent–Child Pass. There is plenty of time to discuss topics that concern you during pregnancy or in relation to the birth.
We begin with a physical examination, including feeling your abdomen and listening to the baby’s heartbeat. Afterwards, there is time for your individual questions. We advise you on different topics and offer practical tips for everyday life. Each visit provides personal support that builds confidence and a sense of security.
Initial consultation / medical history
The initial consultation is a non-binding opportunity to meet the midwife who will care for you after the birth. We take your medical history, answer questions about postnatal care and discuss all parts of the care agreement.
The initial consultation takes place at our practice.
02Birth preparationPrice90 € / hr.
In a private setting, we discuss everything related to birth with both theory and practical exercises.
90 € / hr.View prices
In individual birth preparation, we tailor the topics of birth, the postnatal period and the first time at home with your baby to your wishes. We combine theory with practical exercises to offer comprehensive preparation.
If you do not want a large hospital-based group course, have little time or prefer a more intimate atmosphere, individual birth preparation is a great fit. Preparation can also take place in English on request.
This format is also useful for parents who already have birth experience and want to refresh specific topics. We are happy to offer individual preparation for planned caesarean births as well.
The consultation lasts three to four hours, depending on your needs.

The postnatal period refers to the first weeks after the birth of a child. It is a very special phase in which you grow together as a family and find your way into your new role. Many new experiences, questions and uncertainties accompany this time. This is exactly where we support you with our knowledge and experience as midwives.
As midwives, we are specialists for this important phase of life. We combine medical knowledge with an awareness of your emotional and mental needs. If you are interested in postnatal care, we recommend an initial consultation during pregnancy. Please enquire by email.
During our visits, we discuss topics such as:
- The wellbeing of mother, baby and other family members
- The baby’s development, including weight, feeding and skin colour
- Newborn care, including the umbilical cord, changing, bathing and skincare
- The uterus returning to its normal size and postpartum bleeding
- Healing after birth injuries and caesarean birth
- Breastfeeding or bottle-feeding
- Bonding with your baby
- Hormonal changes
- The pelvic floor
- Sexuality, future family planning and contraception
- Open questions and uncertainties
Discharge from hospital
After leaving hospital – typically between the third and fifth day after birth – we come for the first home visit. The following visits are tailored to your needs and take place up to eight weeks after birth.
Outpatient birth
After an outpatient birth, mother and baby may leave hospital a few hours after birth or within 24 hours. This requires that both are well and that there is no medical reason for further observation. It combines a hospital birth with the comfort of recovering at home.
During pregnancy, two antenatal midwife visits take place to answer open questions and prepare everything needed for the postnatal period. During the baby’s first five days, a daily midwife visit is planned. Later appointments are adapted to your needs. Necessary tasks such as administering vitamin K and taking the newborn screening blood sample can be carried out calmly at home.
Benefits
- Continuous care from a midwife
- A calm and familiar environment
- Partners and siblings are included from the beginning
- More privacy and your own rhythm
- Positive effects on breastfeeding and milk production
Reimbursement
Health insurance partially reimburses one home visit per day from the first to the fifth day after birth. If needed, up to seven further home visits are partially reimbursed until the end of the eighth week.
04Babywearing consultationPriceab 90 €
My additional training as a babywearing consultant is especially important to me. Carrying your baby supports bonding and development while also making everyday life easier.
During individual consultations, I introduce you to different carriers and wraps and help you choose the right option for your family. Together, we learn how to carry your baby safely and comfortably.
A babywearing consultation can take place during pregnancy as preparation or after your baby is born. It is particularly recommended for twins, carrying siblings together, children with special needs or parents who have never used a carrier before.
I invite you to discover the joy of babywearing. Together, we will find the right solution for you and your baby.

05Kinesiology tapingPrice10 €
Kinesiology tape can ease discomfort during pregnancy and the postnatal period and support recovery.

Kinesiology taping is a non-invasive method for pain relief, relaxation, body awareness and stabilisation that works without the use of medication. The cotton tape is applied directly to the skin. Depending on the technique, it can relax or activate the affected muscle, improve lymphatic flow or support joints.
Individual application can support wellbeing and physical recovery because the tape can be worn for several days. Especially during pregnancy and the postnatal period, when some medications may not be suitable, kinesiology taping can be a helpful option.
Taping can also be useful as an additional measure after birth. It can ease tension and support recovery. When your milk comes in strongly, applying tape may provide relief. Maya will be happy to advise you.
